Fees and Child Care Subsidy

How much are your fees?

Our fee is $200 a day for every room, before the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). It includes meals, milk, nappies, wipes, sunscreen and bed linen. See Fees and CCS for details and an estimate of your out-of-pocket cost.

Do you take a bond?

No. Instead, your account is charged two weeks in advance. This is processed at your orientation visit, when we go through your statement with you. After that, your account is charged weekly every Monday.

How does the Child Care Subsidy work?

Once you give us your CRN and your child's CRN, we submit your child's enrolment. You then confirm the enrolment in your Centrelink online account through myGov, which links the two. CCS is paid to us and comes off your fees. Your percentage and hours are set by Services Australia, so please contact Centrelink on 136 150 with any questions about your entitlement.

What happens if my CCS isn't set up before my child starts?

Full fees apply until your CCS is in place, so we recommend claiming well before your start date.

Why must my child be signed in on their first day and signed out on their last?

CCS can't be paid for days before your child's first attendance or after their last attendance. If the first or last day is an absence, full fees apply for those days.

Is kindergarten free at Sakura?

Sakura has applied to offer a funded kindergarten program with Victoria's Free Kinder from 2027, and we will let families know as soon as it is approved. Free Kinder gives eligible three- and four-year-olds an offset (in 2026, up to $2,101 a year) taken off their fees after the Child Care Subsidy. See Free Kinder for details.

Bookings and absences

What is the minimum booking?

Three days a week. You choose your days at enrolment, and we do our best to meet requests to change them.

How much notice do I need to give to change days or leave?

Two weeks' written notice to reduce your days or to finish at Sakura. The last day shown on your latest statement after the two weeks will be your child's last day before the change.

Am I charged when my child is sick or on holiday?

Yes. Your booked days are held for your child, so fees apply when your child is away sick, on holiday, and on Victorian public holidays. CCS can be paid for up to 42 absence days per child each financial year; after that, full fees apply unless the absence is for a reason Services Australia accepts with evidence.

When are you closed?

We are open Monday to Friday, 7.00 am to 6.00 pm, 51 weeks a year. We close on Victorian public holidays and from 25 December to 1 January.

What if I'm running late at pick-up?

Please call us on (03) 7034 7088 as soon as you know. We close at 6.00 pm, and a late fee of $35 applies for each 5 minutes, or part of 5 minutes, after closing.

Do you offer orientation?

Yes. Your family has two orientation visits in the week before your child starts. We send the dates and your enrolment pack two to four weeks beforehand. During orientation please stay on site and contactable, as your child is not yet on our roll.

Everyday life

What should my child bring each day?

A spare change of clothes and shoes, a sun hat, a water bottle, any bottles and formula, nappy rash cream, a comforter and a blanket for rest time, and pull-ups if your child is toilet learning. Please label everything. See our packing list.

What do children eat?

Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack, freshly cooked on site from our seasonal menu, with a vegetarian option every day. Milk is served at morning and afternoon tea and water all day. See a sample menu.

Can you cater for allergies and special diets?

Yes. Children with medical, religious or cultural dietary needs receive a version of the menu tailored to them. Babies under 12 months are only offered foods they have already tried at home. Tell us at enrolment and give us any medical management plan.

Will my child sleep during the day?

Babies in Yuri sleep whenever they need to, in cots, following Red Nose safe sleep practices. Older children have a quiet rest after lunch on foam beds with soft music or stories. Not every child sleeps, but we won't stop a child who falls asleep. Talk with us if you'd like to agree how long your child sleeps.

How will I know how my child's day went?

Educators share your child's day at pick-up, and we post daily snapshots, learning stories and the weekly menu on the OWNA app. You can message your child's room through OWNA at any time.

Can other family members see OWNA?

Yes. We give access to the parents named on the enrolment form. To add another family member, email us their name and email address and we will invite them.

What if I forget to sign in or out on the kiosk?

Educators record your child's attendance for you. Next time you use the OWNA kiosk you will be asked to confirm the missed sign-in or sign-out, so that attendance is correct for CCS. It does not mean your child was marked absent.

Health and safety

Does my child need to be immunised?

Yes. Under Victoria's No Jab No Play law, we need an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register showing your child is up to date (or on a catch-up schedule, or with a medical exemption) before we can confirm enrolment. More about No Jab No Play

What happens if my child becomes unwell at the centre?

We will call you and ask you to collect your child, and you will be asked to sign an illness report. Some illnesses, such as a fever or vomiting, may mean your child needs to stay home for a period. See illness and exclusion.

Can educators give my child medication?

Yes, with your written authorisation on the medication record. Medication must be in its original container with the pharmacy label showing your child's name, dose and expiry date, and should be handed to an educator rather than left in your child's bag.

Who can collect my child?

Parents and the authorised nominees named on your enrolment form. If someone else is collecting, tell your child's educator and give us written permission (an email is fine) beforehand. Educators check photo ID, and no one under 16 can collect a child.

How do you keep children safe?

We follow Victoria's Child Safe Standards, every educator holds a Working with Children Check and completes child protection training, and educators check the identity of anyone collecting a child. More about child safety
